  1. In a wide bowl add 2 cups maida flour.Add little salt and turmeric powder..
  2. Add water little by little and prepare a soft dough.Pour oil over the dough and knead it well Cover the dough and allow it to rest for 30 to 40 minutes..
  3. In a mixer grind the grated coconut without adding water.Now in a kadai add grated coconut,powdered jaggery,elaichi powder and jaiphal powder..
  4. In medium or low flame start stirring the coconut jaggery mixture.Continue stirring till excess water from jaggery is dried.If you feel mixture is not dry you can add a spoon of pottukadalai mavu that is flour to this.Mix well and off the stove..
  5. When hoorna becomes warm make lemon size balls of it..
  6. Make small lemon size balls of dough.Take one ball of dough and place hoorna over it.Slowly push the hoorna and make a modak like shape as shown in pic.Gently press it..
  7. On a polythene sheet greased with oil place this above dough.Now spread little flour over it and roll it to a thin Poli or holige..
  8. Heat a tawa and gently tranfer the Poli over it.After you see bubbles on Poli flip it and cook on other side.Put some ghee on it..
  9. You can see slightly brown patches or dots on it then it is done.Remove it from tawa..
  10. Serve the Coconut Poli or Kayi Holige with ghee..
